A 21st-Century Classic: Jacob & Co. Astronomia Regulator Black
A new pairing of colours, black subdials with white markings, enriches the thinnest of all Astronomias.
Astronomia Regulator reinvented a watchmaking classic, launching the regulator display in the 21st century. Instead of having three separate hands to tell the hours, minutes and seconds, Astronomia Regulator does that with three discs, all of which are translucent black in its new edition. The entire movement makes a 360 degree rotation in just 60 seconds. A golden hand, attached to the carousel, acts as the seconds hand. The hours and minutes sub-dials spin along with the movement. Meanwhile, two built-in differentials make them spin in the opposite direction and at the same speed.
As a result, they are always upright and, as befits a regulator, constantly readable. All the more so as white markings offer perfect contrast on the black discs background. The third element of the movement is a flying tourbillon, with a one-minute, self-centered rotation and another one with the movement. This flying, double-axis tourbillon is paired with a high frequency constant force device. It manages the energy needed to put this movement at such a fast spinning speed, for all to see in absolute clarity.
